Colite has been a family owned full service signage manufacturer for over 50 years. In 1947 H. A. Brown, Jr. and W.L. Gantt purchased Hite Signs, a company started in West Columbia, SC by D.I. Hite in 1923. Brown and Gantt merged with Colonial Metal Letters, Inc. to form Colonial-Hites Company, later renamed Colite. Marty and Peter Brown incorporated Colite International, Ltd. in 1992.

After refocusing the company on corporate and retail identity programs, they then expanded the company globally, establishing contacts in dozens of countries worldwide. Under their leadership Colite went from selling signs to implementing sign programs nationwide and worldwide. Colite's full gamut of services includes engineering, project management, surveys, installations, permitting, manufacturing and maintenance.

Colite specializes in brand identity sign programs, ensuring brand integrity for its clients by giving production and management one central location, and by consistently producing quality signs that are true to their brand. Colite maintains many types of clients, from state agencies and businesses, to ExxonMobil and Bank of America. Colite currently conducts business in more than 50 countries on five continents and maintains their worldwide partner network from their Columbia, South Carolina offices.
